The 2027 Seltos will offer a complete redesign that enhances Kia's subcompact SUV formula. With a 60-millimetre wheelbase stretch, a new hybrid powertrain, and technology previously reserved for premium vehicles, this is the SUV for buyers who refuse to compromise.
Arriving in Ontario this summer with three powertrains, five trims, and comprehensive standard safety features, the Seltos will deliver big-vehicle capability without the footprint or fuel bills. The hybrid variant follows later this year, introducing Kia's first electric all-wheel-drive system to the lineup.
The base 2.0-litre four-cylinder with Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT) will power the LX, EX, and EX Premium trims, prioritizing smooth, efficient daily driving. The turbocharged 1.6-litre four-cylinder produces 190 hp through an 8-speed automatic transmission, exclusive to X-Line and X-Line Limited trims, delivering confident acceleration for highway merging and passing.
The hybrid powertrain is 2027's headline story. Pairing a 1.6-litre four-cylinder with a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission, it will offer front-wheel drive for maximum efficiency or electric all-wheel drive (e-AWD) for winter traction. The e-AWD system - a Kia first on a hybrid SUV - adds a rear electric motor that engages on demand, providing grip without traditional mechanical AWD complexity. Official fuel economy figures arrive closer to the hybrid's on-sale date.
Every Seltos will include advanced driver assistance systems that competitors often charge extra for: Forward Collision Avoidance Assist with Junction Turning, Blind-Spot Collision Avoidance Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, Lane Following Assist, Driver Attention Warning, High-Beam Assist, Intelligent Speed-Limit Assist, and Front and Reverse Parking Distance Warning.
Higher trims add a 3D Surround-View Monitor and Blind-Spot View Monitor, which displays live video feeds on the digital display when turn signals activate. Smart Cruise Control with stop-and-go functionality maintains following distance and brings the Seltos to complete stops in traffic. Safe Exit Alert warns rear passengers if vehicles or cyclists approach before they open doors - especially useful in urban bike lanes.
The 2027 Seltos is longer, taller, and wider than its predecessor, with rear legroom and headroom each increasing by 25 millimetres. The upright greenhouse maximizes visibility, reducing the claustrophobic feel common in subcompact SUVs.
Cargo capacity reaches 1,817 litres behind the first row and 786 litres behind the second - enough for groceries, hockey bags, and camping gear without folding seats. The two-step foldable luggage board creates hidden storage, while Kia's Add Gear system offers modular organization.
The dashboard features dual 12.3-inch displays for instruments and infotainment, with select trims adding a 5-inch climate control display - nearly 30 inches of combined screen space. The ccNC infotainment system supports over-the-air updates, wireless Apple CarPlay, and wireless Android Auto. USB-C ports are standard in both rows.
X-Line trims feature monotone black interiors with SynTex upholstery, mesh headrests, and four-way lumbar support. The X-Line Limited adds front Relaxation Seats that recline and enhance the footrest for long drives.
The 2027 Seltos adopts Kia's "Opposites United" design language, blending bold angles with clean lines. The boxy, upright profile maximizes interior space while creating substantial road presence. Flush door handles improve aerodynamics and modernize the exterior.
Standard 16-inch alloys upgrade to 18-inch wheels on EX and EX Premium trims, while X-Line trims get black 19-inch wheels. X-Line models feature unique bumpers and side sills with dark trim and dark gunmetal accents for a rugged appearance. New colours include Terrain Brown and Frost Blue.
The longer wheelbase improves proportions over the first generation. The upright greenhouse and squared-off roofline maximize headroom without appearing top-heavy, creating a distinctive presence in a segment dominated by rounded crossovers.
The 2027 Seltos will deliver features and space previously requiring larger, more expensive SUVs. The hybrid powertrain adds efficiency without sacrificing capability, while the e-AWD system provides traction without traditional mechanical weight penalties.
