From LX to X-Line Limited: A Trim Walk Through the 2027 Kia Seltos

The all-new 2027 Kia Seltos arrives in Canada this summer as a completely redesigned vehicle. Larger in every dimension, with more rear legroom, more cargo space, and a lineup that now spans five distinct trim families — LX, EX, EX Premium, X-Line, and X-Line Limited — it gives Ontario buyers a clear range of entry points. The question for most shoppers isn't whether the Seltos fits their life; it's which trim fits it best.

This walk-through covers the full Canadian lineup in sequence, trim by trim, so drivers in Newmarket and across York Region can arrive at the dealership knowing exactly where they want to start the conversation.

LX: The Entry Point That Doesn't Feel Like One

The LX is available in both FWD and AWD — one of the few entry trims in any segment to offer AWD with a locking differential at this price tier. It's powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine producing 147 hp and 132 lb-ft of torque, paired with Kia's Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT). Estimated combined fuel economy is 7.6 L/100km FWD and 8.2 L/100km AWD.

Standard safety on the LX is thorough: 8 airbags, Advanced Forward Collision Avoidance Assist with Junction Turning, Lane Keep Assist, Lane Follow Assist, Blind Spot Collision Avoidance Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Avoidance Assist, Safe Exit Assist, Rear Occupant Alert, Smart Cruise Control with Stop and Go, and Parking Distance Warning for both front and rear. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, along with a 12.3-inch ccNC-Lite display, Kia Connect with OTA updates, remote start, Smart Key with push-button start, heated front seats, and 16-inch alloy wheels.

LX at a Glance:

  • 2.0L 4-cylinder, 147 hp, IVT
  • FWD or AWD with locking differential
  • 8 airbags, FCA with Junction Turning, BCA, SCC with Stop and Go — standard
  • 12.3" display with wireless CarPlay/Android Auto, standard
  • est. 7.6 L/100km combined (FWD)

EX AWD: The Volume Trim

The EX is the projected volume trim for the 2027 Seltos in Canada, and it builds on LX AWD with a meaningful list of comfort and exterior upgrades. On the outside it gains 18-inch alloy wheels, LED taillights, auto-flush door handles, a glossy black grille, and a panoramic sunroof. Inside, EX adds Sofino leather seats, a heated steering wheel, rear console ventilation ducts, a passenger seatback pocket, and rear centre armrest with cupholder. On the technology side, EX adds dual-zone automatic climate control with a 5-inch display (creating the 4"+5"+12.3" integrated screen layout), plus a wireless phone charger.

EX is AWD only, with the same 2.0-litre four-cylinder powertrain as the LX.

EX Premium AWD: Class-Leading Technology

EX Premium adds to EX AWD with the most notable feature additions in the mid-range stack. Highway Driving Assist (NSCC Z/C) makes its entry here, along with 12-inch navigation with HD radio. Interior additions include a power driver seat with 4-way power lumbar and memory function, ventilated front seats, heated second-row seats, a driver relaxation seat, front window auto up/down, ECM mirror, ambient mood lighting, cargo cover, and a power smart liftgate.

For drivers in Newmarket who regularly travel Hwy 404 and the 400, the addition of Highway Driving Assist at the EX Premium tier makes this the practical minimum for long-haul commuters.

X-Line AWD: The Performance Option

The X-Line steps out of the 2.0-litre family entirely. It uses the 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 195 hp and 195 lb-ft of torque, routed through an 8-speed automatic transmission. Estimated combined fuel consumption is 9.2 L/100km. X-Line is AWD only.

On the outside it brings 19-inch alloy wheels, LED wide-projection headlamps, LED MFR fog lights, and the full X-Line exterior theme with painted grille and side sills, plus glossy black bumper skid plates. Inside, the X-Line interior theme carries through. On the technology side, X-Line adds a 12.3-inch TFT Supervision cluster, upgrading the integrated display to 12"+5"+12.3".

The X-Line is the natural choice for drivers who want the turbocharged engine and a more assertive exterior without crossing into the full premium technology package of X-Line Limited.

X-Line Limited AWD: The Full Package

X-Line Limited is the top trim of the 2027 Seltos and adds the most significant safety and technology additions in the lineup. Building on X-Line, it gains Highway Driving Assist 2 (NSCC+R), FCA 2 with Junction Crossing, Lane Change Oncoming, Lane Change Side, and Evasive Steering Assist, plus front/side/rear Parking Distance Warning. Surround View Monitor, Blind-Spot View Monitor, Parking Collision Avoidance Assist (Reverse), Digital Key 2.0, the Harman Kardon Premium Sound System, a head-up display (HUD), and rain-sensing wipers complete the package.

The HUD and Harman Kardon audio are exclusive to X-Line Limited — they don't appear on any lower trim.
